Description: Comfort Rating: Performance Rating: Quality Rating: Appearance Rating: Favorite Feature: luxury options (CD, power, moon roof, alloy wheels) at affordable price Least Favorite Feature: RPM's at 65 MPH+ are a little high. Advice to Buyer: Alloy wheels greatly enhance the looks of the Protege Detailed Review: My last Protege was a 1994 model. This is a far superior vehicle. Much quieter. 1.8 Liter Engine is surprisingly responsive with more than adequate power. The 1999 Protege ES offers excellent features....including cruise, power windows and mirrors and CD. Very roomy for a compact car. My only criticisms...the ride is a little stiff and the driver's side seat could be more comfortable. I also very much wish that a leather interior would have been an option. I've had several people on first glance ask if it was an Audi. Styling is sharp with chrome front grill...nice hood lines...and stylish rear tail lights. In my view, dollar for dollar you are getting an outstanding value in comparison to other similarly priced compacts.
