Description: Irvine, CA - October 11, 2000 - Autobytel.com (Nasdaq:ABTL), the global leader in automotive e-commerce, and Hyundai Motor America, a corporate sponsor of the California Governor's Conference for Women and the automotive company with the Hyundai Advantage, America's best warranty, have joined forces to educate women on stress-free new car buying and ownership. Hyundai's and Autobytel.com's first joint workshop will be at tomorrow's California Governor's Conference for Women at the Long Beach Convention Center. Autobytel.com plans to supplement Hyundai's successful Power of the Purseâ„¢ campaign, an award winning program designed to increase women's knowledge of buying a new motor vehicle, with its own "Power of the Mouse" campaign, a program that teaches women how to take advantage of the car ownership resources and tools available on the Internet. Donna Kane, Corporate Marketing National Manager for Hyundai Motor America and spokesperson for Power of the Purseâ„¢, will lead the workshop with Ann Delligatta, Special Consultant on Women's Issues for Autobytel.com. Both women are leaders in the automotive industry and consider empowering women in the car-buying and owning process a personal objective, as well as a crucial component to the long-term success of their respective companies. According to recent studies, over 50% of car buyers are women and, even more compellingly, women influence between 80-85% of all vehicle purchases. Yet 78% of women find that car buying is their least satisfying retail experience and, according to a recent Berkeley/Yale study, women, on average, pay more than men when purchasing vehicles the traditional way-a bias that goes away when women use the Internet. The California Governor's Conference will also feature other well-known and inspirational speakers, including Shirley MacLaine, actress, Arianna Huffington, syndicated columnist, Ann Richards, former Governor of Texas, Laura Diaz, co-anchor of ABC7's "Eyewitness News" and Tom Peters, an author and business guru. About Hyundai Motor America Hyundai Motor America, based in Fountain Valley, Calif., is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company in Korea. Hyundai cars and light trucks are distributed in the United States by Hyundai Motor America and are sold and serviced through more than 500 dealerships nationwide. |
