Potential Number of Units Affected: 2400000Summary:
This is not a safty defect in accordance with the Safety Act. However, it is
deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency.
Vehicle Description: Light duty pickup trucks, utility vehicles, or minivans
equipped with 3-sensor ABS (antilock braking system) EBC4 units. These vehicles
can experience extended stopping distances during ABS stops on certain multiple
surfaces.
Increased stopping distances could occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will modify the computer program which operates the ABS unit.
GM has decided to conduct a Special Policy to modify the computer program on
these vehicles. Owners can contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at
1-800-462-8782.
