Description: Comfort Rating: Performance Rating: Quality Rating: Appearance Rating: Favorite Feature: High reliability, even if not maintained optimally. Least Favorite Feature: Washer fluid reservoir problems. Much plastic. Advice to Buyer: It's a Toyota, but not completely maintenance free. Detailed Review: Surprisingly comfortable ride, and reasonable acceleration and power, except on hills. Handles similarly to other cars in its class, but overall feel is smoother. A/C underpowered. Is actually fun to drive. Good fuel economy - around 25-30 mpg. I owned this from 1995 to 1999. Basically trouble free, but did major maintenance at 100k (fluids, belts, tune). Replaced alternator at 60k, probably because of jump starts damaging circuitry. EGR valve failed at 100k. Replaced brake pads at 50k. Washer fluid pump assembly was flaky and had to be taped back together. (This has happened on a few Corollas I know of.) Broke the interior door handle by pulling on it too hard. Spent total of $1500 or so on maintenance. This car is pretty easy to work on, and weekend mechanics can fix pretty much anything on it. It's the V-dub of the 90's.
