Description: The legendary high-performance 2001 Pontiac Firebird is available in five muscular trims: the Firebird Coupe and Convertible, the Formula Coupe, and the Trans Am Coupe and Convertible. The Firebird's bold, aggressive styling with hidden headlamps, integrated fog lamps, fender-mounted air extractors, and dynamic sleek body needs no help in attracting consumers. For even more standout appeal look for Sunset Orange Metallic to join the pallet. A 3800 200 horsepower V6 engine teamed with either a five-speed manual or an available four-speed automatic transmission powers the Firebird Coupe and Convertible. For even more driving excitement the standard 5.7-liter V8 Gen III LS1 engine on the Formula and Trans Am receives a new camshift and intake manifold to increase output to an even more powerful 310 horsepower and is teamed with either a four-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. Trans Am drivers opting for Pontiac's WS6 Ram Air Performance and Handling Package will increase their power to 325 horsepower and 350 ft.-lb. of torque. All this power and still both engines manage to comply with LEV standards. Also noteworthy are the re-valved shock absorbers for a smoother less-vibrating ride. The Firebird features an impressive list of safety attributes including safety-cage construction, side-door beams, front dual airbags, two rear child safety seat top tether anchors, four-wheel disc brakes with electronic brake distribution and ABS, daytime running lights, tires with wear indicators, and available traction control. Security is handled with the PassKey II theft-deterrent system, available remote keyless entry and an audible theft-deterrent system. Options include a trunk-mounted 12-disc CD player, a choice of two 500-watt 10-speaker Monsoon AM/FM/CD systems and for the Firebird and Firebird convertible a Sports Appearance Package that includes dual exhausts, distinctive chin spoiler, rocker panel extensions and a deeper rear valance.
