And now, to make that Camry a safer and more enjoyable tool, we&146;re providing some information to help you understand how the car works. Sort of an on-line owner&146;s manual. It boils down to this: Autobytel.com isn&146;t going to disappear after you sign the papers on your new vehicle. As you wrack up the miles on that Camry, keep in mind that we&146;re going to stick with you for the long haul. bragging rights Top safety ratings from NHTSA and IIHS That unintelligible bit of alphabet soup means that your Camry excelled in some very demanding crash tests. In other words, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have given the Camry high ratings when it comes to protecting you and your passengers in a collision. Specifically, NHTSA (a federal safety organization) gave the Camry its highest rating (5 stars) for protection of the front-seat passenger in a serious &147;head-on&148; impact. The driver&146;s position also received a high rating (4 stars) in the same type of crash. Better yet, the IIHS (a private, insurance industry-funded organization) gave the Camry its highest ratings in five categories of driver and passenger protection, earning this sedan a &147;Best Pick&148; rating. Incidentally, the Camry was one of only five midsize sedans to receive the &147;Best Pick&148; rating, and the list of crash-tested vehicles in this category was quite large. |
