Description: Overall Rating: Comfort Rating: Performance Rating: Quality Rating: Appearance Rating: Favorite Feature: vehicle rides smooth and looks goods. 225 R 70 tires look and ride good. Least Favorite Feature: Stay away from the small 4 cylinder engine, it is totally underpowered. Advice to Buyer: The xlt interior option is well worth the cost. As of 6-99, Ford offers a $1000.00 rebate. Detailed Review: 1999 Ford Ranger XLT, 2 wheel drive, 3.0 liter engine with five speed transmission. Cloth split bucket seats. Ride is excellent, but the 3.0 engine is under powered on hills. Vehicle consistently gets 21 mpg. Towing capacity is limited by the weak 5 speed manual transission. Rx: automatic transmission option will increase towing capacity, but will also increase initial cost. The larger 4.1 ohc engine has a good reputation. Overall fit and finish on this vehicle is excellent. It is difficult to change the oil filter.
