Description: Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster, CLS Coupé and new-generation C-Class Three new Mercedes models celebrated their world premieres: the SLK Roadster, the four-door CLS-Class Coupé and the new generation of the C-Class. CLS-Class Highlights of the CLS Class include elegant interior styling cues, such as a steering wheel and automatic transmission selector lever finished in leather trim as standard. Seats boast an elegant fabric/leather combination. Wood trim is hand-crafted burr walnut. Newly developed seats for the driver and front passenger are electrically adjustable and can be ordered as an option with an active ventilation function or as dynamic multi-contour seats. The six-cylinder coupé also comes as standard with thermatic automatic climate control, a stereo system, speed-sensitive steering, leather steering wheel, 17-inch light-alloy wheels and wide 245/45 R 17 tyres. With its 5.0-litre V8 engine, the CLS 500 is a match for sports cars in terms of output, and also offers the eight-cylinder comfort of a top-class saloon. As with the 350, the seven-speed automatic transmission is standard. Other features of the standard equipment package for the CLS 500 not standard in the CLS 350 include Airmatic DC air suspension, Thermotronic luxury automatic climate control and 18-inch light-alloy wheels with wide 245/40 R 18 tyres. SLK-Class The new SLK-Class sports a powerful new engine, a "sporty" suspension setup, more direct steering and a six-speed manual transmission. The roadster builds on the proven strengths of its predecessor in the shape of a space-saving vario-roof, and safety features -- including adaptive airbags and new head/thorax side airbags. The SLK offers new new developments such as a neck-level heating system, bi-xenon headlamps with the cornering light function and the 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission (all optional). The SLK offers three new engines, an eight-cylinder unit from Mercedes-AMG, a six-cylinder and a163-hp four-cylinder engine that powers the SLK 200 KOMPRESSOR. This engine uses eight-percent less fuel than the outgoing model of similar output. C-Class The new generation of the C-Class also debuted at Geneva. The Saloon, Estate and Sports Coupé models have all been revised in terms of driving dynamics, comfort levels and look and feel. The chassis, steering and six-speed manual transmission are now sportier, allowing the C-Class to offer a more agile driving experience. A four-cylinder super-charged power unit will be added to the engine range for the Saloon and the Estate in spring 2004. An eight-cylinder unit makes its debut in this model series, the new engine powering the top line C 55 AMG. The C55 AMG's 5.5-liter V-8 engine produces 367 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The C55 AMG is mated to the AMG Speedshift five-speed automatic transmission. The sedan model will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds. Top speed is limited to 150 mph. Additional changes include a new sport suspension, wider track and 18-inch wheels. Exterior enhancements include a restyled front end and grille. Look for the AMG to be available spring of 2004. Inside, the C-Class interior features upgraded controls, line-specific seats and standard-fitted thermatic automatic climate control. Scratch-resistant paint-work developed using nano technology also comes as standard and helps to extend the durability of the C-Class line up. Bi-xenon headlamps with the cornering light function, steering wheel gearshift buttons for the automatic transmission and new audio/navigation systems add to the high-tech optional extras available for this successful model family. The new G 55 AMG with V8 supercharged engine First unveiled 25 years ago, the G-Class is getting a new stablemate: the G 55 AMG, with a supercharged V8 engine makes 476 hp of power. The G 55 AMG has a naturally aspirated V8 engine, and features significant power upgrades over its predecessor. The new G 55 AMG is available as a five-door station wagon with a long wheelbase and will be arriving at Mercedes-Benz sales and service outlets and dealerships in June 2004.
