Description: St. Louis, MO, March 12, 1996 - Cameron and Kathleen Cook of Columbia, IL were so thrilled with the great deal they got using Autobytel.com, the premier Internet-based automotive program, that they had their nephew use the service just one week after they picked up their new car from Huey's Honda in St. Louis County, MO. Cameron Cook, a Locomotive Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad, explains, "We've driven Hondas since 1981 and have generally paid near sticker price to do so. When I visited Autobytel.com's home page () and saw the claim that its dealers will give users a low, competitive price-without costing me a dime-my ears perked up." Mr. Cook soon discovered that Autobytel.com's claims were true. In order to determine which new Honda was right for them, the Cooks took to prowling dealer lots after dark-checking out sticker prices, colors and options. Mr. Cook then visited Edmund's Automobile Buyer's Guide on the Internet. This Web site gives a complete listing of dealer and retail invoices, as well as reviews of new cars-at no cost to the user. The service is simple. First the Cooks filled out a purchase request on Autobytel.com's home page, and within a day or so a call came through from Huey's Honda. "They told me they had our car and gave me the Autobytel.com price. Since I had already checked invoice prices with Edmund's, I knew they were quoting me the dealer invoice price!" says a surprised Mr. Cook. "I was shocked to say the least-and I was waiting for the 'Gotcha!' to come." But it never did. When the Cooks picked up their car from Huey's Honda they expected the dealership to attempt to upgrade them and gouge them for extras, but that didn't happen. "Over the past twenty-seven years, I've purchased 12 new cars and this was the very first time I felt I got a good deal-and I did it with no haggling," Mr. Cook concludes. One of the reasons Autobytel.com's program is so successful is because they expect their participating dealers to meet high standards. Huey's Honda, for example, is managed by Andy Huey, the Vice President of the Greater St. Louis Automotive Association. Other dealerships based in Missouri include the Lou Fusz Auto Group (St. Louis), Shawnee Mission Ford (Kansas City), Car City (St. Joseph), and Marcus Allen Toyota (Kansas City). Anyone with a computer and modem can access Autobytel.com. Point your Internet browser to , or look for Autobytel.com on CompuServe, Prodigy, America Online and Microsoft Network.
