Description: That Wrangler sure us one tough customer. Especially considering that it now has 13 inches more cargo area and two inches more leg room. According to Jeep officials, the Wrangler Unlimited also achieves a quieter ride, thanks to its longer wheelbase (103 inches), and a best-in-segment tow rating of 3,500 lbs, 1,500 lbs more than the standard Wrangler. Also standard on the Wrangler Unlimited are the Dana 30 front axle, a rear heavy-duty Dana 44 axle, a 30-inch tires, 15-inch aluminum wheels, high pressure gas-chargfed shock absorbers with a 3.73 axle ratio. Engineers were careful to design the Wrangler Unlimited to maintain the 20 degree breakover angle for off-road driving. Also introduced was the Chrysler Crossfire convertible. My sensibilities tell me that there are more affordable and better performing roadsters on the road. But there's something about the way that Crossfire looks, and as a convertible - my, oh my. An all-new vehicle last year, the Crossfire is a two-door RWD sports car powered by 3.2-liter Mercedes V6 with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. Several suspension components are also borrowed from Mercedes, including upper and lower front control arms and the multi-link rear suspension. Large 18-in. wheels up front are complemented by even heftier 19s out back. Initially offered only in coupe form, the Crossfire is ragtop ready and should be more competitive with the Nissan 350Z, among other roadsters. Pricing was not available at press time. 2004 Auto Show Gallery More Show Photos... d |
