Description: As you know, in response to trends we observed in the evolution of the online automotive customer last year, we launched the first two phases of our Quality Verification SystemSM, designed to increase the quality of the customers that we send to you. Phase One placed strong language on our sites to encourage "Serious Buyers Only," and Phase Two instituted a rigorous quality scrubbing system for all customers. In 2003, we have continued to measure the behavior and quality of online automotive consumers and have identified another "quality target": consumers who have surfed in through a "spam" email campaign. As the Internet has matured and "spam" has proliferated across the Internet, email campaigns have drastically diminished in value and effectiveness, typically resulting in lower quality customers who are less serious buyers. We have watched this development closely over the past months and, as a result, have instituted Phase Three of our Quality Verification SystemSM our improved "No Spam" policy. What does this mean? 1. Autobytel will not utilize mass email campaigns to solicit vehicle Purchase Requests. 2. Our affiliate partners have been informed that they are no longer to send us vehicle Purchase Requests acquired as a result of "spam" email campaigns. We are pleased that our affiliates are embracing this important policy. We also encourage your participation in this effort. If you should encounter a "spam" email campaign that is purportedly connected to Autobytel, we request that you forward the email to nospam@autobytel.com so that we can investigate and take action. We will continue to communicate with consumers through our popular monthly automotive newsletters and other information-based mailings. Millions of our website customers have asked to receive these useful and informative mailings, and we have found that these customers have a high likelihood of purchasing a car through one of our member dealers. We are proud of the dramatic improvements we have made over the past year in customer quality and are very gratified that the results are demonstrable in higher closing ratios for our member dealers. As the Automotive Internet continues to mature and evolve, we will continue to take the industry lead in utilizing innovative online marketing technologies to target - and capture - the most serious online car buyers for your dealerships. As always, we welcome your feedback. Please do not hesitate to contact your Autobytel Inc. Regional Director or email us at dealerfeedback@autobytel.com. |
