Description: Fun and Prizes at the Autobytel Grand Prix: Autobytel Dealer wins Callaway Golf Clubs! If you were at this year's N.A.D.A. convention, you already know that the Autobytel booth was one of the most popular booths at the show, with attendees packing in to check out all of the great new dealer services we're offering in 2003. Of course, another major draw was the second annual "Autobytel Grand Prix," where dealers put their racing skills to the test in a series of head-to-head races for fabulous prizes. The races (which were held every five minutes throughout N.A.D.A.) featured custom-built, one-tenth-scale remote controlled cars provided by one of the nation's foremost RC racing clubs, Small Cars Unlimited, from the heart of RC racing country, Jackson, Mississippi. The cars were built to exceed speeds of 106 mph, and were clocked by the same computerized counting system used during NASCAR events. Awards were presented to the winners of each and every race, with the top performers of each of the four days of N.A.D.A. also taking home a valuable grand prize. We also held a drawing exclusively for Autobytel member dealers for a beautiful set of Callaway "Big Bertha" golf clubs, which were won by Jeff Grimm of Bob Grimm Buick/GMC in Morton, IL. Congratulations, Jeff! We thank all of you who stopped by our booth and look forward to seeing you again in Las Vegas in 2004! Autobytel Showcases New Performance Coaching Program - SIGN UP NOW FOR WORKSHOP APRIL 14 - 18 At N.A.D.A., we were proud to spotlight Autobytel's new total-dealership performance coaching program. This innovative, intensive training program is boosting sales and closing rates nationwide by integrating successful Internet sales, marketing, management and customer service techniques throughout the entire dealership. We have already heard reports of closing ratios increasing three-fold after attending Autobytel's performance-coaching program. The customized program is designed to work within the framework of each dealership's sales organization and will teach all sales and finance teams how to sell more effectively to customers who have first visited the Internet. Acknowledging that the majority (2 out of 3) of today's car-buyers are, in fact, Internet shoppers, the program challenges the entire sales team to re-examine outdated -- and costly -- assumptions about Internet customers, as well as the Internet-informed customers who walk into the showroom. The eight-day program is spread out over several months, and all sessions are conducted at your dealership. Our goal is to provide a catalyst for positive, long-term change. As part of this program we listen, we solicit feedback, we drill, and most importantly, we follow-up. In addition to the eight-day Autobytel training program, you also have the opportunity to attend the Autobytel Performance Academy's special 5-day intensive workshop on how to develop and manage online sales leadership. Learn how to transform online sales leads into profitable in-dealership sales results. This workshop will take place April 14 - 18 at Autobytel's headquarters in Irvine, California. Autobytel Consumer Choice Awards™ Winners Announced On February 1st, we were pleased to announce the winners of the inaugural Autobytel Consumer Choice Awards™ at our press conference at N.A.D.A. Awards were presented to the manufacturers who built the cars and trucks that were the most popular among Autobytel's millions of online car-buyers in 2002, based on Autobytel's Purchase Request data gathered throughout the year. We believe the Consumer Choice Awards provide a broad overview of Internet buying behavior -- which, as it turns out, is often quite different from that of traditional buyers. Autobytel's Most Requested New Vehicle and Most Requested New Passenger Car Awards, for example, were both won by the redesigned Nissan Altima, which gained rapid momentum in the market overall, but which nonetheless did not rank among the top ten sellers last year. Honda won in two categories -- Most Requested New Minivan (the Honda Odyssey) and Top Overall Most Requested Used Vehicle (the 1999 Honda Accord). GM also took home three awards. The Chevy Tahoe won the Most Requested New SUV award, the Chevy Silverado won the Most Requested New Truck, and the Cadillac brand was presented with a special Autobytel Consumer Choice Award recognizing the greatest year-on-year percentage gain in online Purchase Requests from 2001 to 2002. These awards reveal that online shoppers are, in many cases, buying different vehicles than their offline counterparts. We are in a prime position to witness the behavioral patterns of online car buyers, and we've seen that these buyers undergo a different, more selective, shopping process. Your Internet customers break down features and options; they read reviews; they cross-compare; they actively move from brand to brand. We believe that much can be learned by understanding Internet shoppers, which account for 2 out of every 3 car buyers, and we will continue to mine this information to create processes designed to help you sell more cars.
