Words like Porsche, and SUV, tied together as if the famed German automaker would even consider the idea. Well, they did it, so now we have the Cayenne to deal with. It's still a Porsche, but with a large family-haulin body -- if that makes sense at all. Of course, Porsche still offers its array of fine sports cars, from the mid-priced Boxster to the 911 Carerra. Porsche Cayenne Many people will never be comfortable with a Porsche badge on an SUV. For those who can get used to the idea, the Cayenne may wind up being the best luxury mid-sized SUV on the road. Or perhaps the Cayenne will introduce a new segment: the performance SUV. Consider: The Cayenne comes with a 4.5-liter V-8 engine and a six-speed-automatic transmission with manual gear changes. The Cayenne S delivers 340 hp, and the Cayenne Turbo increases that to 450. "Intelligent” all-wheel drive is standard. Pricing is not announced, but is expected to range from $55,000 to $85,000. Porsche 911 Carrera MSRP Range: $67,900 - $83,200 No significant changes are planned for 2003. Porsche 911 GT2 MSRP Range: $179,900 - $179,900 No significant changes are planned for 2003. Porsche 911 Targa MSRP Range: $75,200 - $75,200 No significant changes are planned for 2003. Porsche 911 Turbo MSRP Range: $115,000 - $115,000 No significant changes are planned for 2003. Porsche Boxster MSRP Range: $42,600 - $51,600 Possibly the most popular Porsche, thanks to its price and ride. Though certinaly not a 911, the Boxster gets 2003 changes that should help boost the little car's reputation even more. Exterior styling is slightly different yet significant as it a and the Boxster and Boxster S will get a power boost. |
