The success of the sporty new coupe not only reflects Hyundai's increasing sales figures, but also its emergence as a sophisticated brand. Along with the popular Sante Fe SUV and other members of its line-up, Hyundai is poised to continue piling up successful seasons.   Hyundai Accent   MSRP Range: $8,999 - $10,649 Hyundai's most affordable vehicle is completely resdesigned, with a new grille, hood and headlights as the most notable exterior changes. Engine size has also been enhanced, up to a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder power plant.    Hyundai Elantra   MSRP Range: $12,499 - $13,999 A four-door sedan will be introduced for 2003 as the Elantra GT, and will feature more "sport" performance enhancements than the hatchback. These improvements include a stiffer suspension, leather seat surfaces and fog lights. The GT will have the same engine as the regular Elantra.    Hyundai Santa Fe   MSRP Range: $17,199 - $23,299 Side air bags were introduced as an option in mid-year 2002. No significant changes are planned for 2003.    Hyundai Sonata   MSRP Range: $15,499 - $18,324 No significant changes are planned for 2003.    Hyundai Tiburon   MSRP Range: $15,999 - $17,999 he new Tiburon will be fighting against a mish-mash of coupes, rally cars and perhaps even small wagons like the Toyota Matrix. Yea, there are plenty of sharks in this sea. And some--such as the Acura RSX---have pretty big teeth. But so does the Tiburon. Available since mid-year 2002, the 2-door, 4-passenger sports coupe features a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 134-horsepower engine that achieves 23-mpg in the city and 31-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The GT V6 -- the one to get if the Tiburon is on your short list -- is equipped with a standard 2.7-liter, V6, 170-horsepower engine that does 19-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, and a 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive are optional. Pricing starts around $19,000    Hyundai XG350   MSRP Range: $23,999 - $25,599 No significant changes are planned for 2003.  |
