Irvine, California - Hylton Motorsports, the 2001 CART Toyota Atlantic Champions are pleased to announce that Autobytel Inc., the leading Internet automotive marketing Services Company, has become a primary team sponsor. Autobytel’s sponsorship will adorn the #1 Autobytel/Medlock Ames Winery/Toyota/Swift driven by Ryan Hunter-Reay for Round 6 of the 2002 CART Toyota Atlantic Championship at Chicago Motor Speedway and Round 12, the series’ final event, the inaugural Grand Prix of Denver. “It’s great to get behind the hometown Hylton Motorsports team as it defends its Atlantic Championship title,” said Autobytel President and CEO Jeffrey Schwartz. “We’re especially pleased that Ryan (Hunter-Reay) has become an official spokesperson for our ‘Take the Pledge’ safe-driving campaign. As an authority on ‘speed’ – and the dangers associated with it – he’s the perfect role model to encourage young drivers to slow down and drive courteously on neighborhood streets.” “I am extremely excited for both Ryan and the team to have Autobytel’s support. Jeff (Schwartz) has given us the unique opportunity to show what our team can do for a company of their reputation and stature,” said Keith Hylton, Hylton Motorsports team owner. “We intend to send every customer, employee and friend of the Autobytel team home with a feeling of accomplishment and belonging that is so unique to auto racing.” The CART Grand Prix of Chicago will mark Hunter-Reay’s sixth Atlantic start. In his five previous starts, he tallied two pole positions, one provisional p ole position, two race lap records, led the most race laps twice and was the first driver of the season to score a victory from pole position when he earned his first Atlantic win last month at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with a prominent International company like Autobytel. Hylton Motorsports and Autobytel share a commitment to excellence that I am honored to be a part of,” said Hunter-Reay. “To succeed in the extremely competitive race environment of CART, it is necessary to work very hard within the team to maximize every opportunity if you want to stay in front of the competition and with Autobytel’s philosophy of team effort, it is a natural relationship that I hope to build on in the years ahead. As the national spokesmen for Autobytel’s ‘Take the Pledge’ safe driving campaign I hope to help influence drivers to slow down on our neighborhood streets and save the lives of our nation’s most important asset, the children.” Since inventing online car-buying in 1995, Autobytel Inc. has been a leader in helping retailers sell cars and manufacturers build brands through marketing and CRM (customer relationship management) tools and programs. The Irvine, California based company owns and operates the popular consumer websites Autobytel.com, Autoweb.com, Carsmart.com and Autosite.com, as well as AIC (Automotive Information Center), a leading provider of automotive marketing data and technology. Today, Autobytel Inc. generates an estimated four percent of all domestic new vehicle sales - $17 billion in 2001 – for dealers through its websites, and is the largest syndicated car-buying content network. Currently in it’s fifth season of Atlantic competition, Hylton Motorsports fields a two-car campaign for Americans Ryan Hunter-Reay and Roger Yasukawa in the CART Toyota Atlantic Series. Also based in Irvine, California, Hylton Motorsports has recorded podium finishes in 13 of the last 17 Atlantic events.
