Description:
This key is designed to help you read your 3-Agency Credit Report. It gathers all the information on your credit history from the three major credit reporting agencies, Equifax (abbreviated EFX), Experian (abbreviated XPN), and Trans Union (abbreviated TUC).
The first section of the report gives basic information about the person the report is for. Check to see that your name, current address, and Social Security number are correct.
The second section, the Report Summary, sums up current credit accounts and balances, and notes delinquent or overdue amounts. Items are listed in four columns, so read down then over rather than completely across. The Report Summary includes:

Oldest Account. Shows the earliest opening date of all credit accounts.

Credit Accounts. Shows the total number of credit accounts reported.

Closed Accounts. Shows the total number of credit accounts that are reported closed.

Inquiries. Shows the total number of inquiries about your credit that were reported. (Inquiries may be made by banks, department stores, employers, landlords.)

Inqs/6 mos. Shows the number of inquiries within the last 6 months.

Real Estate Bal. Shows the total balance of all real estate type accounts.

Installment Bal. Shows the total balance of all installment (fixed payment) type credit accounts.

Revolving Bal. Shows the total balance of all revolving (open credit line) type credit accounts.

Total R/E Pmt. Shows the total of all real estate payments.

Total Other Pmt. Shows the total of all non-real estate credit account payments.

Current Accts. Shows the total number of current accounts.

Revolving Credit Avail. Shows the percentage of revolving credit that is available for use.

Was Delq/Derog. Shows the number of accounts that have previously been delinquent or derogatory.

Now Delq/Derog. Shows the number of accounts that are currently delinquent or derogatory.

Past Due Amt. Shows the total past due amount for all credit accounts.

Public Records. Shows the number of matters of public record (e.g., bankruptcies, foreclosures) reported by each credit bureau.

Collection Accounts. Shows the number of accounts turned over to a collection agent, as reported by each credit bureau.
The third section gives detailed information about what each of the three bureaus has reported for each credit account on file. It is possible that some credit accounts may not be reported to all three credit reporting agencies, and that some credit accounts with small, local lenders may not be reported at all. For each reported account you may see:

Account Name. The name of the creditor with whom you have or have had an account.

Number. A truncated listing of the account number, with 4 digits left off for security purposes.

Type of Account. A description of the type of credit account this is (e.g., real estate, revolving, installment).

Credit Bureau. The abbreviations for the credit bureaus reporting the account (read across from each to see that bureau's information).

(Id) Bur Code. A code indicating your association with the account, e.g., I for individual or J for joint.

Date Open. The date upon which the account was opened.

High/Limit. Your credit limit, or the most you have ever charged on the account.

Mnthly Pmt. Your monthly payment on the account.

Account Balance. The balance you owe, as of the date the information was obtained.

Last Rptd. The last date the account information was updated to the credit bureau by the creditor.

Account Status. Shows what the current status of your account is, e.g., current or delinquent (Del) by 30, 60, or 90 days.

Past Due Amt. Amount, if any, past due, as of the date the information was obtained.

Last Delnq. Last time the account was reported delinquent.

Past Due 30/60/90+. Any balance that is past due at the time the information was obtained will appear in the Past Due Amount column. Past Due 30/60/90 indicates the number of times an account was overdue 30, 60, or 90 days.

Hist Date. Works with next item, Account Status.

Historical Acct Status. For chronological reference. Each number under Historical Account Status indicates whether the account was current or past due on a month to month basis over the last 24 months, including the date shown under Historical Date.

The numerical codes are:

0 Too new to rate
1 Current
2 30 days late
3 60 days late
4 90 days late
5 120 days late
6 150 days late
7 Wage earner plan or bankruptcy
