Description: Overall Rating: Comfort Rating: Performance Rating: Quality Rating: Appearance Rating: Favorite Feature: Highway: Cruise Control; Offroad: Dana44 & Low Gearing Least Favorite Feature: 'up-arrow' shift light on dash (manual trans) Advice to Buyer: PLEASE do not restrict this vehicle to the highway. Go offroad & enjoy (TREAD LIGHTLY!) Detailed Review: My dad had a CJ5 that was incredible offroad but like a horseless carriage on the highway. When I first saw the new Wranglers, I was afraid that they had compromised offroad capability for comfort. I WAS WRONG! Last summer I barely scratched the surface of 4wd trails in Colorado and just stock this Jeep is incredible. Most people modify their Jeeps with lift kits, bigger tires, etc. So far, I am enjoying mine just as it is--and I figure when (IF!) I reach the limits of what it can do, I'll start looking at serious modifications. Highway: The 4.0I6 engine gives awesome off-the-line acceleration and with a hard top the ride is quiet. I like the new dashboard because it is efficient and practical. It corners very tight and parallel parking is a snap due to very tight turning radius & short wheelbase. Offroad: The low range on this thing is REALLY low. It effortlessly crawls up and down incredibly steep mountain grades. The Dana44 rear axle is very heavy-duty and will withstand more abuse than I ever intend to deliver. Driving with the top off is absolutely awesome--like the freedom of a motorcycle with the safety of a truck. In conclusion, It's built like a battleship, drives on the highway like a dream, and can climb straight up a mountain!
