Description: GM is offering special rebates of $500 to $1,000 to tens of millions of current owners of GM cars and trucks, hoping they'll take advantage of the savings and go buy another new GM vehicle. This is a brand-new program called "Loyalty First" and it's GM's attempt to rebuild its slipping market share. GM is presently doing battle with Ford, Chrysler and foreign carmakers. In February their share of the US market slipped to a near-record low 28.6%, but did rebound to 32.5% in March with bigger incentives. Original buyers of GM products from 1986 to 1998 are eligible if they still own and operate the vehicle, and these coupons expire June 30th. The rebates are offered in ADDITION to other GM national incentives, which currently range from $500 to $2,500, but they do exclude Saturn products. GM says this is the first time they've targeted rebates at current owners, and it's designed to thank them and encourage them to buy GM. In 1997, GM recently had the best owner loyalty rate, with 68% of GM owners choosing another GM product again. Under this "Loyalty First" program, most GM cars and trucks will carry a $500 rebate. The heftier $1,000 coupon applies to the high-end models, including all Cadillacs, full-size GMC and Chevy extended-cab pickups, and the Olds Aurora and Riviera. If you're a GM owner from 1986-1998, and don't get your coupon, contact GM for information. |
