Description: The 1998 Mitsubishi Galant ES four-door sedan could very well be called the 'middle' Mitsubishi. It's a mid-sized sedan, it's the middle model of the Galant lineup (DE, ES, LS), it's larger than the Mitsubishi Mirage and smaller than the Diamante, its fuel economy is in the mid-twenties, and its performance is kind of mid-level. The Galant ES is the type of practical, sensible, family transportation car that isn't too dull or too flashy. It's the kind of car that offends no one, but it doesn't elicit the excitement of the wild Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4, either. The Galant ES is stylish, yet sensible. It's more than basic transportation, but less than a status symbol. The five-speed manual transmission is new to the ES for '98. It's a good choice because it allows the driver to extract the maximum performance from the 141 horsepower four-cylinder engine. The front bucket seats are extremely roomy, even compared to much larger cars. The rear seat isn't quite so generous in the leg-room department. The "Premium Package" includes a nice power sunroof and handsome 15-inch alloy wheels. The Galant ES is one of the better looking mid-size sedans. The standard equipment list is quite extensive. Most of the controls are well placed and easy to use, but we thought the radio controls were too small. The '98 Mitsubishi Galant ES sedan is handsome, comfortable, sensible, and competitively priced. It's a middle Mitsubishi that should appeal to a wide variety of customers. |
